Attractions Malaga

Malaga is wonderful although most tourists only know Malaga because of the airport. But Malaga is well worth the visit because of the interesting museums, the beautiful buildings from the Moorish time, the many ' tapas ' bars, luxury shopping and beautiful beaches and numerous terraces.

Worth a visit are the Alcazaba. Build by the Moors in the 11 century, it is a fort nestled high above Malaga and overlooks the city. From the Alcazaba do you have a beautiful view on the bull ring built in 1874 with a capacity of 15,000 people. Also visit the adjacent Gibraltar, a castle built in the 14th century by the Muslim King Yusuf. The Roman Theatre is located close to the Alcazaba, was only discovered in 1951. The Malaga Cathedral is a mixture of building styles through the especially long construction time of 1528. Malaga also has the Picasso Museum.

The Centre of Malaga has a lot of shops. The main street has a giant shadow in the summer which is nice. There are many tapas bars, squares and terraces. On your way to the train station there is a big shopping mall called: Maria Zambrano. Close to the airport, you can also visit the cinema and the shopping mall: Plaza Mayo.

Important celebrations in Malaga are the Christmas week, Carnaval, Semana Santa with impressive processions through the city, the night of San Juan juni 23th. deFeria around on the beaches with campfires and 19 August.
